Hoopoe II
November 11, 2009I very nearly walked right past this bird without noticing, but luckily I did notice and he did not fly away while I was digging out my camera. He works very hard to find a nice juicy bug to eat and his work pays off. If you need a lawn aerated, a Hoopoe might be a good option.
That is a cool bird and the ones around him make the sound effects are pretty neat too. Thanks for sharing.
The noisy birds in the background are common mynas. They gather just before sunset at the fountain and make quiet a racket. They are a non-native, invasive species related to the starlings I know you are familiar with (although more interesting than starlings).
